I’M54 AND FINANCIALLY BELOW A ROCK. been under dr. care and can’t work. What do I do? Close to being homeless.

I’m 54 and financialy below a rock. Been under dr. care and don’t know how long it will last. Have no medical insur. Just about homeless. What do I do at my age? There is no assisstance or good medical care for me. How did I get to this point? My husband left me for a younger woman. Filing bankruptcy, yet I still owe for college and some on my vehicle. Scared? Yes. This is how people become homeless in America. I dearly love this country, but feel the laws are going to kill me, physically (no extendended medical care) and financially. I, like others have just fallen in the crack in this society. It’s horrible! I am a good person and have worked through the years, and now I am at this point at my age. Very frightening! Anyone know a path I should take or any agencies I could contact for help?

    I deeply feel for you. Good luck. Are you able to work at all? Even part time? If you are at least part time, you should be able to talk to a social worker in your area to discuss options that may be available to you. Another route would be help from family. Do you have any brothers or sisters that you could turn too? What about children? It is unfortunate that some people slip through the cracks, but also the family structure is broken in America. Family should be the first you are able to turn to in crisis versus the government.

    Go to your local department of unemployment, they should be able to assist you with where to go to see about SSI, Section 8, Food Dstamps, Charity Healthcare and other such things. Best of luck to you.

    go to your local welfair office you should be elageble for at least medical card and foodstamps tell them its an emergency also aply for ssi there are free laywers to help apply for it welfaircan also help with this good luck flaim been there
