I need someone who knows about Mortgages. Please help?
8 years ago I filed for bankruptcy. I never filed on my home. I have never missed a payment. Recently my mortgage was bought out by another lender. They send me a letter saying my escrow is over $1100.00 short! Come to find out my previous lender had not done an escrow analysis on my mortgage for the last five years. Now they expect me to come up with the payment. Yes they are going to spread it out over 12 months, but I really can’t make that large of a payment. Do I have any legal recourse against my previous lender? Isn’t it a law for them to send me a yearly escrow analysis? What Agency can help me? Who can I report this to?
