Bankruptcy filings are down by 80% or more in most parts of the country, so the trustees have more time to ask questions and review a case more thoroughly. About half the time, I have also seen a case analyst from the U.S. Attorney's office who asks questions too to see if there is any abuse of the bankruptcy process. In about 1/2 of my cases, the trustee is more aggressive. In the remaining cases, the cases proceed as they did under the old law.

My trustee asked simple questions and inquired about an unsecured $11,000 loan I took out six months before filing for bankruptcy. I still received bankruptcy discharge about 3 months after filing. I had no problems other than minor errors due to filing without an attorney.

Yes. No, my trustee asked me basic questions...that had already been answered...and I went on my way.
