LAWYERS: Does anyone know if I can practice any law in a state if I’m licensed in a different state?
Sunday, September 20th, 2009I am licensed to practice law in New Jersey and was wondering if it would be possible to move to another state without “waiving in” and doing things like bankruptcy or immigration- anything in the federal courts that only require you to have an active license in a state. Someone told me that if you’re actively licensed in one state that there are certain kinds of things you can anywhere. Yes, I know that some states have reciprocity, etc, but I really don’t feel like moving to D.C., etc. I would like to move to Ohio for a year or two and not have to take the bar exam there. Are there any areas of practice that I could do while there with my NJ license?
Any good suggestions would be appreciated. If you don’t know the answer to this question, please don’t answer it, thanks!
