bankruptcy law

and they got to vote on these laws and policies passed by congress and signed by the president of give it their blessing……..I am just curious as to how many of these laws would actually get approved by the american people by a 51% majority?

For example: the bankruptcy law, the tort reform law, the free trade deals..fast track etc….

Would the american people approve of these things?

Save your breath, I know some of you feel the people have no business giving input on such grand matters beyond their peonish comprehensions.

How is it possible that US Air after emerging from bankruptcy can attempt to buy Delta(also in bankruptcy)?

Cutting costs is one thing…but it seems as though these are just clever (and legal) ways to dump pension plans…which both have done.

US Air dumped their pensions….but took some 20 million or so(not sure of exact number)….to pay the top people in their company…..while they were in bankruptcy protection and while dumping pensions of the people who worked for them (with the expectation that they would have a pension provided by the airlines)….they upheld their end of the bargin.

Also I thought I read about a federal law…that essentially shields them from disclosing what CEO’s and others are paid during bankruptcy protection…

Is that fair?
I know what bankruptcy is…no problem with reorganization. But like you stated…they are heavily subsidized by the federal govt…..and while shifting assests and reorganizing they DUMPED all of their pensions….and like I said these people…pilots and whatnot have worked….done their part…they had an agreement with the airlines…if they work 25 years…they have a nice pension to look foward too….so the airlines are able to renege on the deal….b/c the pensions they will now receive will be only about 2/3′s if not half of what they were receiving……and you think that’s ethical?…..GMAB

Bankruptcy is PUBLIC record…..somehow there is this NEW law that shields them from disclosing what the CEO’s are making during bankruptcy protection….and you think that’s ethical too?…..LOL

Private Loan Question?

My husband got a 30,000 dollar loan that his father co-signed on, and his parents just added it to their bankruptcy that they filed before the laws changed. Does that mean that we are still responsible for the loan even though it was filed on the co-signer’s bankruptcy?
OK, I do have a heart, and there is NO NEED FOR NASTY COMMENTS. We don’t make a lot of money and have a 2 year old baby. We have been paying as much as we can afford each month. Didn’t your mother tell you that if you have nothing nice to say keep it to yourself?

I fled a domestic violence situation due to the law not helping. How do I start over? I need to work and live!

bankruptcy law

I left a six figure income because I was found three different times by this crazy man whom I constantly tried to run from. He finally did some jail time, but it took me fleeing my whole life. Over a half year later, I can’t find a job. I am either over-qualified or under and no one is giving me a chance. I do not have a clue as to how to start over at 40. Thank God I don’t have children or others to care for. I am about to file bankruptcy because I have to. I have worked since I was 16 and always contributed to society. All of a sudden, my life is upside down and I am trying everything I know so as not to be looked down upon. I need to know how to start over. Maybe I need to move again to a state that has better job opportunities, but I’m flat broke. If you don’t have anything positive to say, please do not respond. I beat up on myself enough; I don’t need you to add to it. Just so you know, I have never been in legal trouble or lived a seedy life and abuse was not my lifestyle.

Is this a good response to a collection agency for a debt from repo?

To whom it may concern:

On 2 Nov 2007, I have been aware of the debt listed in the amount of $11,473.20.
I also have been going through personal finances to see every and each possible
way to fulfill this in a settlement. Please ensure that I do intend paying off this
debt in a respectful manner. I have exhausted every financial obligation in order
to make an offer in the amount of $7457.58 without having to file for bankruptcy.
Due to my poor credit caused by GMAC, I have no other resources other than the amount offered above to fulfill the amount you seek.
If agreement(of my offer) is made, payment will be rendered within 90 days in the full amount offered.
GMAC did not notify me of debt until I received your letter. They also did not notify
me of the auction on my vehicle which from I understand is required by law. I did leave corresponding address/phone number to my assigned agent at GMAC contact me regarding debts, questions, or concerns. I consider GMAC disrespectful to the amount of my debt.

Credit card debt consolidation company. Who is legitimate?

I ran out of cash meeting uninsured broken arm surgury, then started using credit cards. Did the low rate transfers and all that stuff. Now back to work, but could not make payments last few months. Hounded by their phone calls all the time. Have not answered their calls. But I am now working again and can start making payments. I am ready to contact the credit card companys. Before I do, I would welcome any advise (or benefactors, Ha,Ha). Totally, by rough calculations I owe about $80,000.
As an after thought, I am aware there were changes in the bankruptcy laws but do not know the specifics. Is bankruptcy a good option. Basically I have zero assets, no real property.

In closing, who is a reputable debt consolidation company, is bankruptcy a viable alternative, or is their an an alternative I do not know of? Thank you for your advise.

P.S.
Spend $10 for a non-slip pad for your bathtub. Money well spent !
