is my husband responsible for my credit card if i cant pay and he is not on it? i lost my job in 2001 and they said last payment was in 2001. recently they have been calling here. they said they sent out 3 letters which i never recieved and i asked for another so i could see options offered and she refused to send another. a credit card went from a $1,000 card to $3300.00 in charges. i have no income at all. no car, no job. my husband works but he doesnt have that kind of money either. they wont work with me. all i asked for was a letter showing what they were offering and she wouldnt do it. i said guess it’d be cheaper to file bankruptcy then she said you cant i said yes i can. i read the new laws and about counceling and etc first. i guess what i want to know is if i do file will they go after my husband then?
i paid on it every month for 4 yrs lost my job and couldnt pay it. last time i used it was in 1999 while paying monthly.
i also wanted to state that the difference between the 1000 and 3300 is all the fees theyve charged me.

They reformed the bankruptcy laws that heavily favor the banks. They mainly support a pointless war in Iraq that has caused the deaths of thousands of American soldiers. They cloak themselves in piety, but they do things that the devil and Hitler would approve.

What might happen at closing the sale of my house, given the following facts?

Declared bankruptcy in early October 2005 (amid a rush of filers still looking to get in before the law changed).
Discharged in early 2006.
Listed 2 mortgages for house: First from the lender.
Second mortgage is a no payment forgiveable rehab loan from our local housing department. The loan incurs no payments and is reduced by 10% every year after 5 years in the house (completely forgiven after 15 years). This zero payment, forgiveable rehab loan was secured 7 years ago.
Didn’t reaffirm either mortgage. Stayed in the house.
Am selling the house now. Won’t sell for enough to cover both mortgages.

What happens? Can I be sued for a deficiency judgment? Will the housing department show up at closing and demand payment?

How many years is a bankruptcy on file?

Me and my husband want to file ch.7 to wipe out everything and start over again. But can we keep our checking accts? CAn i keep my truck since i am joint with my father in law or does he have to take it over?

Any good expereinces of relief from filing ch. 7?

I know the laws have changed in the past year or so. What are the pros and cons? If we currently have an auto loan, would we have to surrender the vehicle?
