Is there some type of law that protects an employee in the event that the employer severely deminishes wages?
Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008I worked for a company for four years. In those four years I successfully worked my way up to management. However, with in 8 months time, this employer reduced my pay twice, and then terminated my employment. I went from making $43,000 per year, to what would have been calculated to be $18,000 per year in six months time. In December of 2006, I was relieved of my management position, and was told I was being replaced by someone who knew the job better, and was going to be a better asset to the company. The only option I was given was to take a position at the other location for $15,000 less per year, or be unemployed. I had literally 5 minutes to decide this, and had no prior warning that my performance was unsatisfactory. In June they blamed it on financial problems and cut another $12,000 a year from me. In August, I was fired for making mistakes I knew nothing about. I have been forced to file bankruptcy, and have lost EVERYTHING. Is there any regulation against this?
