How does “The United Atheist College Fund” sound?

bankruptcy law

I’d bet my paycheck that if someone started it, they’d be sued for discrimination by one religious group or another. Only thing that’d get ya sued quicker would be “The United Caucasion College Fund”. Same as a Christian College can get by with expelling a student for atheism (legally protected due to by-laws given in student handbook), but a secular college would be sued into bankruptcy for expelling a person based on their religion. Why is it that religions and other minorities can discriminate, and be backed by our legal system??

bankruptcy law

I would like to keep 2 of my credit cards but don’t know if they allow this under the chapter 13 laws. I know that when filing on your credit cards they close after you paid them off and I would at least like my Sams credit card and Providian to stay opened during this process and continue paying on these two normally. I am not sure if they will allow this. Any adivce?

bankruptcy law

Ok heres a very complicating situation. I’m a 27 yr old mother..to a 9 yr old. Have been living common law with my 42 yr old bf…who is my sons father. We own a home together..and due to many financial problems..I had to claim bankruptcy a few months ago.
Now this relationship has just gone from worse to worst…and I’m thinking leaving is the best option..for everyone involved. We dont get along anymore..and I just think its time to move on. He is very verbally abusive.and I dont want to raise my son around that negativity any longer.
How would this work considering all these obstacles I’m currrently working out. Could I lose my portion of the home because of my bankruptcy?

Would it be a good idea for someone who has a recent BANKRUPTCY to apply for a car loan?

bankruptcy law

A friend declared Chapter 7 Bankruptcy last fall before the law change, and his debts were cleared and honestly I cant really say if it is a good idea or not for him to apply for a car loan as his first application for credit of any kind post-bankruptcy. I would tell him to look into credit counciling, but every site I have seen has some kind of a catch or is not entirely unbiased. The loan amount he wants is 15K for a late model used car. His income to debt ratio is excellent now, unlike a year ago when he was not recieving his pension.

Any advice for him considering it is roughly six months since his Chapter 7 bankruptcy discharge and if applying for a car loan is fine at this point?

If my hospital has a charity program, can I tell them I don’t have health insurance?.even though I do?

bankruptcy law

Is it against the law to do this in Louisiana? Because I’m in college and I work part-time (they don’t offer benefits), and I had a little individual plan. When I went to the hospital, the woman at the desk ripped the card out of my hand, and said that if I have insurance I can’t get on the charity program. So, the next day I cancelled the policy even though I’m stuck with the bill ($5000 deductible). Now, I’m thinking about getting the plan back to prevent bankruptcy in the event of an emergency. However, when I go back to the hospital…would it be illegal for me to tell them that I don’t have health insurance (even though I do), that way I can be on the charity program that they put me in since i went back which is free care.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

LAW ENFORCEMENT
I was arrested
in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under the
influence
of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver’s license
suspended
for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been “lost” and is not
available.

MILITARY
I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a
drug
test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the Texas
Air
National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam.

COLLEGE
I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a
cheerleader.

PAST WORK EXPERIENCE
I ran for U.S. Congress and lost. I began my career in the oil business
in
Midland, Texas, in 1975. I bought an oil company, but couldn’t find any
oil
in
Texas. The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.

I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a
sweetheart deal that took
land
using taxpayer money. With the help of my father and our friends in the
oil
industry, including Enron CEO Ken Lay, I was elected governor of Texas.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS
I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making
Texas
the most polluted state in the Union. During my tenure, Houston replaced
Los
Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America.

I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions
in
borrowed money.

I set the record for the most executions by any governor in American
history.

With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida, and my father’s
appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President after losing by
over
500,000 votes.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT

I am the first President in U.S.
history to enter office with a criminal
record.

I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one
billion
dollars per week.

I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S. Treasury.
I
shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history. I
set
an
economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month
period.
I
set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period. I
set
the
all-time record for the biggest drop in the history of the U.S. stock
market.

In my first year in office, over 2 million Americans lost their jobs and
that
trend continues every month.

I’m proud that the members of my cabinet are the richest of any
administration
in U.S. history. My “poorest millionaire,” Condoleeza Rice, had a
Chevron
oil
tanker named
after her.

I set the record for most campaign fund-raising trips by a U.S.
President.
I am
the all-time U.S. and world record-holder for receiving the most
corporate
campaign donations. My largest lifetime campaign contributor, and one
of my
best
friends, Kenneth Lay, may he rest in peace, presided over the largest
corporate
bankruptcy fraud in 0U.S. history, Enron.

My political party used Enron private jets and corporate attorneys to
assure my
success with the U.S. Supreme Court during my election decision. I have
protected my friends at Enron and Halliburton against investigation or
prosecution. More time and money was spent investigating the Monica
Lewinsky
affair than has been spent investigating one of the biggest corporate
rip-offs
in history.

I presided over the biggest energy crisis in U.S. history and
refused
to
intervene when corruption involving the oil industry was revealed. I
presided
over the highest gasoline prices in U.S. history.

I changed the U.S policy to allow convicted criminals to be awarded
government
contracts. I appointed more convicted criminals to administration than
any
President in U.S. history.

I created the Ministry of Homeland Security, the largest bureaucracy in
the
history of the United States government.

I’ve broken more international treaties than any President in U.S.
history.

I am the first President in U.S. history to have the United Nations
remove
the
U.S. from the Human Rights Commission.

I withdrew the U.S. from the World Court of Law.

I refused to allow inspectors access to U.S. “prisoners of war”
detainees
and
thereby have refused to abide by the Geneva
Convention.

I am the first President in history to refuse United Nations election
inspectors
(during the 2002 U.S. election).

I set the record for fewest numbers of press conferences of any
President
since
the advent of television.

I set the all-time record for most days on vacation in any one-year
period.
After taking off the entire month of August, I presided over the worst
security
failure in U.S. history.

I garnered the most sympathy for the U.S. after the World Trade Center
attacks
and less than a year later made the U.S. the most hated country in the
world,
the largest failure of diplomacy in world history.

I have set the all-time record for most people worldwide to
simultaneously
protest me in public venues (15 million people), shattering the record
for
protests against any person in the history
of mankind.

I am the first President in U.S. history to order an unprovoked,
pre-emptive
attack and the military occupation of a sovereign nation. I did so
against
the
will of the United Nations, the majority of U.S. citizens, and the
world
community.

I have cut health care benefits for war veterans and support a cut in
duty
benefits for active duty troops and their families-in-wartime.

In my State of the Union Address, I lied about our reasons for attacking
Iraq
and then blamed the lies on our British friends.

I am the first President in history to have a majority of Europeans
(71%)
view
my presidency as the biggest threat to world peace and security.

I am supporting development of a nuclear “Tactical Bunker Buster,” a
WMD.

I have so far failed to fulfill my pledge to bring Osama Bin Laden
[sic]
to
justice

Should I file bankruptcy? Please any advice will help?

Saturday, October 18th, 2008
bankruptcy law

I need to know if I should file bankruptcy. I have read online that IF you do not have ANY valuable assets, and limited pay, meaning NOTHING by law that a creditor can take from you that there is no need to file bankruptcy? Amount owed is all credit cards (about $15,000 maybe a little more) and also a home morgage that I would be happy to include. Is it better to just let them charge off the cards or to file bankruptcy? I have NO valuable assets at all and also get a SMALL amount of help from the state. I will answer any questions… I need TRUE advice on this PLEASE!
i also forgot to mention… these debts are already about 1 to 1 1/2 years old… some are already charged off… and others still contact me. It has gotten out of hand. Some credit card debts that had a $500 limit are now at over $1500. Thanks all for answers!

Rude people.Do you really think this way?

Saturday, October 18th, 2008
bankruptcy law

I was researching other’s questions about filing bankruptcy and read something from a very ignorant person.
I’m sure that the bankruptcy laws have changed because of people taking advantage of it….who are irresponsible. However, people like me, upper middle class, can’t control disease (or cancer). Once we get to the point in our lives where we are comfortable and have everything we ever wanted, whether paid for or not, we never forsee that we will get sick.

Companies are bombarding us with ads to buy buy buy and offering insane interest rates to reel us in. When you’re financially stable, these seems fine. So maybe in some round about way, I may be ignorant.

For all the rude people out there who blame bankruptcy on the person who spent too much, wake up. When you’re diagnosed with a terminal illness or any illness, you stand the chance of loosing everything. I’ve seen it happen. Bankruptcy may be the only way to prevent this from happening. IMHO.
I know that bankruptcy doesn’t protect 100% loss, but it will stop a lender from taking your house and your car. I work as a nurse too…and I’ve seen many people loose everything. The cancer came from no where and there was no time to plan. They had to retire. The medical bills, old and existing bills are enormous. They become depressed. It’s sad.
