Will Dr. Dino go to hell?

bankruptcy law

Kent E. Hovind (born January 15, 1953) is an American evangelist and prominent Young Earth creationist who is serving a ten year term in U.S. federal prison for tax fraud. The self-styled “Dr. Dino” (whose Ph.D, from an unaccredited university, is in Christian education) established the Creation Science Evangelism Ministry in 1989.

On November 2, 2006, Hovind was found guilty by a jury in a Pensacola, Florida federal court of fifty-eight federal tax and tax-related offenses; his wife, Jo, was also convicted on 44 counts. On January 19, 2007, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison, three years of probation after his sentence is served, and $640,000 in restitution.

Kent Hovind has been in trouble with law enforcement several times. These have included assault and battery, falsely declaring bankruptcy, making threats against federal officials, filing false complaints, failing to get necessary building permits, and various tax-related charges.

I’m an atheist by the way. I just thought it funny to see Dr. Dino have a record for assault and tax evasion and fun stuff. He’s often quoted here as a ‘good source’ by creationists.

If you default on student loans, is it legal for the government to immediately add on 43% collection costs?

bankruptcy law

I borrowed $55K (colege & grad school), ending in 1994. I couldn’t get a job, got sick, and was homeless. The bank declared my loans in default, even tho they did not meet all the criteria for default. I finally got a full-time permanent job in 1996, but then lost it in 1997, was a temp for 2 years, and have been paying almost $1,000/mo. since 1999. But somehow, the government says that I owe more than $198,000 (yes! one hundred ninety-eigh thousand!) and in fact, the interest is more than my payments so the balance is actualy growing. All lawyers tell me that unless you are disabled or mentally ill, you cannot discharge student loans in bankruptcy as long as you can pay SOMETHING–it makes no difference under the law that you will never be able to pay off the loan before you die, or that it is an extreme hardship to have this hanging over your head for the rest of your life. Lawyers tell me that it must be an “undue hardship” which is impossible to meet unless it makes you homeless.

Judgment Not Showing Discharged in Bk?

bankruptcy law

I was checking/cleaning up my wifes credit reports when I noticed she has a judgment from Merrick Bank against her. This jud was filed on May 2003, but we were discharged from chpter 7 on Nov 2003. Maybe that debt slipped through the cracks when we filled our schedule F, but I do have the discharge papers. Should I send the law firm that filed
the jud a copy of the discharge or should I just let it be? I’m
hesitant to “awake” this issue, so to speak. After all, it’s been 5 years and there has been no attempt at enforcing it with
garnishments/levy etc. I’m assuming they have checked the public records and have seen the bankruptcy after they filed or they know about it. What should I do?

I can’t name any — before you say something like toilet paper, remember they dictate the gallons per flush.

Today I hear they’re considering bankruptcy law changes that will force lenders to lower rates and principle balances for those in trouble – it’s 1929 all over again. Hang on to your hat!

I am the first president in US history to enter office with a criminal record.
In my first year in office I set the all-time record for most days on vacation by any president in US history.
After taking the entire month of August off for vacation, I presided over the worst security failure in US history.
I set the record for most campaign fund raising trips by any president in US history.
In my first two years in office over 2 million Americans lost their job.
I cut unemployment benefits for more out-of-work Americans than any other president in US history.
I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period.
I appointed more convicted criminals to administration positions than any president in US history.
I set the record for the fewest press conferences of any president since the advent of TV.

I presided over the biggest energy crises in US history and refused to intervene when corruption was revealed.
I presided over the highest gasoline prices in US history and refused to use the national reserves as past presidents have.
I cut health care benefits for war veterans.

mankind.
I dissolved more international treaties than any president in US history.
I’ve made my presidency the most secretive and unaccountable of any in US history.
Members of my cabinet are the richest of any administration in US history. (The ‘poorest’ multimillionaire, Condoleeza Rice, has a Chevron oil tanker named after her).
I presided over the biggest corporate stock market fraud in any market in any country in the history of the world.
I am the first president in US history to order a US attack and military occupation of a sovereign nation, and I did so against the will of the United Nations and the world community.
I have created the largest government department bureaucracy in the history of the United States.
I set the all-time record for biggest annual budget spending increases, more than any other president in US history.
I am the first president in US history to have the United Nations remove the US from the Human Rights Commission.

RECORDS AND REFERENCES:
I have at least one conviction for drunk driving in Maine (Texas driving record has been erased and is not available).

I was AWOL from the National Guard and deserted the military during a time of war. I refuse to take a drug test or even answer any questions about drug use.

All records of my tenure as governor of Texas have been spirited away to my father1s library, sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view.

All records of any SEC investigations into my insider trading or bankrupt companies are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view.

All minutes of meetings of any public corporation for which I served on the board are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public view.

Any records or minutes from meetings I (or my VP) attended regarding public energy policy are sealed in secrecy and unavailable for public review.

Bush also went AWOL…and had his hand in the demolition of the WTC.

Bush referred to the US Constitution as a God damn piece of paper.

He was wrong about WMD. That got the US into a war with Iraq. The UN said there were no weapons and we still went to war anyway. At least Colin Powell did the right thing and resigned. Too bad Bush doesn’t have Powell’s intregrity

His initial response to hurricane katrina was horrible.

The “no one left behind” idea is terrible: dumb down education so children look smarter without learning what they should.

The patriot act violates the bill of rights. How can we talk about the freedom of democracy here in the US when the government keeps taking away those freedoms?

His tax cuts did not go to those at the bottom of the income bracket.

He raised interest rates for those taking loans to go to college.

Abstinence taught for sex education does not work. Safe sex should also be taught in school as well.

He talked about border protection and sealing off America from Mexico, then gives the Saudis (i think it was them) control over offshipping cargo on our coast. I thought we were supposed to be protecting our borders, not selling that right off to the highest bidder!

His environmental policy is not helping reduce global warming. His solution is clean-burning coal! That will never happen!

bankruptcy law

A new bankruptcy law is being criticized as being too problematic, with too many areas needing tightening. One program, WEPP, is being lauded however. It is to protect employees from employers who declared bankruptcy. ANOTHER SILLY RADIO TRIVIA QUESTION I CANT FIND ON GOOGLE? ANYONE KNOW?
